Dana Builder Axle Program Fits New Dana 60 Axles To Many Applications

Enthusiasts Can Create "Ultimate Snow Fighter" Axle
Las Vegas, Oct. 31, 2017 - Dana Incorporated (NYSE: DAN) announced today that it will be offering a Builder Axle program to allow the inclusion of a new Dana® 60 axle, with numerous upgrades, into a wide range of applications. The customizable Dana 60 front and rear axles allow different width and center drop dimensions for Jeep TJs and XJs, rock crawlers, bouncers, and other off-road vehicles. Dana made the announcement at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show, held here through Nov. 3 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Sourcing older used axles have numerous drawbacks, not the least that they are usually rusty, worn, and inferior in several areas, especially the unit-bearing hubs. The new Dana Builder Axle program makes it possible to purchase all new components with a dead-spindle style hub assembly incorporated.
"In the past, enthusiasts had to go to junk yards to source old axles, especially the Ford kingpin Dana 60 'snow-fighter,'" said Randall Speir, senior account manager, motorsports, for Dana. "Now, Dana is making new components available, including many upgrades like the option of disc brakes and ball-joint wheel-end kits. And, we will be continuing to add additional options in the future - like a kingpin knuckle kit, so off-roaders can build the 'Ultimate Snow Fighter' axle."
The Dana Builder Axle is only available through authorized Dana distributors. The Builder Axle consists of a center housing and tubes, as well as a wheel end option. Internal components are also available.
The Builder Axle comes on a pallet and the tubes must be cut to the individual application specifications. The quandry of "driver-side drop" versus "passenger-side drop" is no longer a limiting factor with the Dana program; simply cut the tubes and position the differential housing to "drop" where desired.
The ball-joint knuckle kit and future release kingpin knuckle kits offered through the Dana Builder Axle program are provisioned for an SPL70/1550 series wheel-joint and a high steering arm to accommodate lifted vehicle applications, a feature also not found on junkyard axles.
It is also possible to install disc brakes on the Dana Builder Axle. The ball joint knuckle kit is compatible with Dodge brakes. The future release of the kingpin knuckle kit is compatible with Dodge brakes, using hubs with an 8 on 6.5" bolt pattern, or Ford brakes, with an 8 on 170 mm pattern.

Cooling Fix For Power Steering Systems & Automatic Transmissions

• Internal micro fins & external louvered fins reduce temperatures between inlet and outlet ports by 22º
• Compact & light with 4 flat-sided oval extrusions for fluid cooling
• 15" long with furnace-brazed joints guarantee reliability
Kennesaw, GA: KRC has revealed a useful cooling fix for power steering systems and automatic transmissions. Using the radiator principle and combining it with two innovative elements—internal micro fins and external serpentine fins—they have attained impressive heat dissipation. Impressive heat dissipation can be elusive; but, by channeling the fluid through multiple internal micro fins located within four flat-sided oval extrusions, KRC succeeded in reducing fluid temperatures by 22F degrees. The temperature difference is measured between fluid entering the inlet port and exiting the outlet port. Furthermore, as the heat transfers through the micro fins and the extrusion walls, its dissipation is hastened when it reaches a dense maze of serpentine fins. Attached to the external surfaces by a technology known as furnace brazing the serpentine fins, though almost invisible to the naked eye, are themselves festooned with a multitude of tiny louvered fins.Oil, when heated, builds an insulation layer between the internal surface of the tube and the prevailing oil flow like a boundary layer. In addition, the majority of the oil flowing in the middle of a conventional round tube remains un-cooled—parallel layers have different relative velocities. In sharp contrast, the inner micro fins in KRC’s flat-sided extrusion scrub or upset the oil’s laminar flow preventing it from building an insulated wall.
At the rear of the cooler a vertical plate runs its length with angled slots and the letters KRC notched out. Their objective, particularly the angled slots, is to create turbulence. The turbulence generates a negative pressure that disrupts the air flow, which further improves cooling performance. Importantly, the cooler exhibits minimum flow restriction, hence a minimum pressure-drop that further aids cooling performance.
KRC’s new cooler measures 15in long x 2.625 x 1.750in overall. The internals of the four extruded tubes are 1.260in wide with a cross section of 0.138in. For further information contact KRC Power Steering at:

BMR Releases Polyurethane Differential Bushings For S550 Mustangs

Minimize wheelhop, improve handling, and enhance the rear stability of 2015 S550 Mustangs with polyurethane differential bushings from BMR Suspension. Stock rubber bushings with voids are great for minimizing NVH, but deflect tremendously, causing wheelhop, which can damage rear suspension parts. Designed from 95-dutometer polyurethane, BMR’s differential bushings deflect far less than soft rubber, and drastically decreases differential movement and pinion rise when compared to the factory bushings. BMR Polyurethane Differential Bushings (BK049) offer huge reductions in deflection, without excessive increases in NVH. BMR designed the BK049 for street performance, drag race, and handling applications, making them the perfect wheelhop solution for any performance-based S550 Mustang. Each bushing is manufactured to strict tolerances, using exact molds, which ensures high quality and a perfect fit. These bushings eliminates almost all differential movement, reducing wheelhop and increases handling stability, while giving you a much-improved overall feel in any performance driving situation. Installation time is about 3-4 hours. Proudly made in the U.S.A.!

QA1 Honored With Two SEMA Global Media Awards

Lakeville, MN [November 10, 2014] – QA1, a leader in high-performance suspension components, has been honored with two SEMA Global Media Awards for its carbon fiber driveshafts and Mopar Rear Suspension Conversion System, both of which were recognized for their mass appeal to audiences around the world. SEMA introduced the Global Media Award program in 2004 to highlight the wide appeal of specialty-equipment products to enthusiasts on every continent. Products are reviewed by a panel of 35 top automotive journalists from more than 20 countries around the world and recipients were recognized in an evening program during the 2014 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada.
QA1’s carbon fiber driveshafts, which are currently offered for street performance vehicles as well as dirt late models, are a major new offering from QA1’s Advanced Materials Division. These driveshafts are lighter, stiffer, stronger and safer than aluminum and steel driveshafts and are filament wound in-house using 3MTM Matrix Resin that is exclusive to QA1 performance driveshafts.
“QA1 is redefining industry standards by performing the filament winding in-house, which allows us to make carbon fiber driveshafts specific to each application,” said Travis Gorsuch, QA1’s Director of Advanced Materials. “We’re very excited for them to be recognized as a high-quality product that is relevant in multiple markets.”
The second Global Media Award for QA1 was for the Mopar Rear Suspension Conversion System, a revolutionary bolt-in conversion from leaf springs to coil-overs for Mopar A-Body vehicles. The system utilizes a 6-link suspension that builds upon the traditional 4-link system and replicates its geometry while still mounting to the existing chassis mount locations.
“It’s an honor to be recognized for this rear system,” said Karl Hacken, VP of Engineering at QA1. “We’ve put a lot of time into development so that it would be a practical bolt-in system, allowing it to be available to a wider audience that may not be comfortable cutting or welding on their vehicles. The awards are a testament to QA1’s emphasis on creating and producing performance-based products that have wide appeal.”
QA1 revealed 15 new products at SEMA, including expansions of existing lines as well as brand-new shocks and struts that will be available in 2015. For more information on QA1’s new products, visit www.QA1.net or watch the new product videos at www.youtube.com/QA1tech.
